WYBDA Band Directors Workshop
It's back and better than ever! Join WYBDA, the Wisconsin Youth Band Director's Association, and White House of Music for three full days of all things band. Earn professional development hours and continuing education credits as you enjoy exciting seminars and hands-on workshops that will help take your band to the next level. This year's workshop will explore the innovative ways technology, parent and community advocacy, and 21st century teaching methods can help you develop a stronger program with greater retention.

Cost: $99 if registered before June 30; $120 after June 30. Just $49 for college student music majors wishing to attend.

laura mclaughlinLaura McLaughlin
Clarinetist, D'Addario Reserve Method Artist
Laura is a member of the music faculties at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and Carroll University, and is a co-founding member of Lakeshore Rush, a Pierrot instrumentation ensemble. She is a member of the Wisconsin Wind Orchestra, and regularly performs with the Wisconsin Philharmonic, Fox Valley Symphony, Kenosha Symphony, and Oshkosh Symphony Orchestras in addition to numerous other ensembles. Laura has given performances throughout the U.S., Canada, and Italy, most notably at Merit School of Music's MeritFest at Symphony Hall (Chicago, 2015), University of Wisconsin-Madison's George Crumb Festival (2015), and the International Clarinet Assocation's Clarinetfest (2008).
Laura holds degrees from University of Wisconsin-Madison (D.M.A.), Michigan State University (M.M.), and Eastern Michigan University (B.M.A.). Her primary teachers include Dr. Linda Bartley, Dr. Elsa Ludwig-Verdehr, and Dr. Kimberly Cole-Luevano.
tom bracyTom Bracy
Percussionist, Trombonist, Educator, Clinician
Tom Bracy employs his nearly 30 years’ experience in education, marketing, and management to perform a variety of roles. He is known as a band director, marketer, consultant and expert in leadership. Most recently, he joined Elkhart, Indiana-based Conn-Selmer Inc. as the Director of Urban Education and Educational Support Manager for the Central Region of the United States. The Division of Education equips music educators with resources, networks, and tools to build, enhance, and sustain music education. It works to cultivate relationships with key educational influencers, including music administrators, music directors, and educational policy advisors.
In his 13-year tenure with Merit School of Music, Bracy served in nearly every capacity at the Chicago-based community music school. Most recently, he was executive director. Over the years, he also held roles as faculty member, director of operations, acting director of development, director of human resources and chief operating officer.
Before joining Merit, Bracy was executive director of the Association for Catholic Music Education. He also worked for the Chicago Park District as an area manager for North Side neighborhood parks. He started his career as a band director for the Archdiocese of Chicago.
Bracy’s primary instrument is percussion with additional studies in trombone. He earned his Master’s of Management and Master’s of Business Administration, as well as a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in organization management and leadership from North Park University in Chicago.
mike kamphuisMichael Kamphuis
Managing Director of Conn-Selmer’s Division of Education 
Michael (Mike) has been in the music industry for fifteen years. He has a Bachelor’s of Music Performance (Trumpet) from the University of Wisconsin at Parkside.
Throughout his career, Mike has held many different positions primarily in Sales and Marketing relative to band and orchestra instruments including Product Manager (Flutes and Brass instruments), Director of Marketing (Brass), and Sr. Director of Product Marketing (all band and orchestra categories) at Conn-Selmer, Inc. In the summer of 2013, Mike became the Managing Director of Conn-Selmer’s Division of Education establishing initiatives under the vision of Conn-Selmer’s Vice President of Education, Tim Lautzenheiser. In this role, he is leading a team with the mission to create opportunities for music industry and music education to work in a collaborative effort for the betterment of music education worldwide. Mike is actively involved in the Indiana Arts Education Network and also participates as a delegate for Indiana and Michigan during the NAMM Fly-in to Washington D.C. in support of the newly adopted Every Student Succeeds Act.

This session is designed to share a financial model that has helped many institutions improve their success with long term sustainable models supporting instrumental music education. One will learn the four pillars of a financial plan:  Recruitment and Retention, Asset Management, Budget Preparation and Advocacy.  A free cloud based asset management inventory tool will be included.
